Starfish Sisters

You are probably familiar with the parable of the starfish.  A lady walks along the beach, tossing beached starfish back into the water.  A man questions her, saying, “You are wasting your time.  There are thousands of starfish.  You can’t possibly make a difference.”  The lady resolutely picks up another starfish and flings it back into the sea.  “Made a difference to that one,” she says. 

Rising Tide is about connection, mutual support and encouragement.  To this end, each member will be paired with a sister member.  To have an opportunity to build a deeper relationship.  To provide support and encouragement in a more intimate setting.  And just to have fun together.  We may not be able to help everyone in the world have a better life.  But we can make a difference to one.  That one is your Starfish Sister. 

You will meet, either virtually or in person, at least once a month.  It can be as simple as sharing a cup of coffee for an hour, or you can plan an outing if you like.  Your Starfish Sister is there for you, and you are there for her.  You can share confidences, struggles, victories, prayer, tears and giggles.  This is your opportunity to build a real connection, to create a friendship, to grow your worldview.  

After 6-months, Starfish Sisters will be rotated.  A new connection, a new friend.  You can still choose to connect with previous matches, as time allows.  In this way, we all become more interconnected.  Our relationships within Rising Tide become stronger, more authentic.  More real.  As do we, as individuals.
